Taiko Together utilizes movement, singing, stories, games, and taiko drumming to introduce music to toddlers alongside a parent or familiar adult. This special program is designed and directed by Yeeman Mui (Manman), a certified music educator in the Orff approach. This one-of-a-kind program provides the ideal environment for development of musicality in young children.
Participants of Taiko FUNdamentals in Hong Kong created this special version of "Na'auao" as our end of workshop performance. The song was an original song created by a group of 4th grade students from the Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. This version is arranged by the workshop participants as part of the lesson training.
Na’auao is a song composed by the Bruins (Punahou 4th Grade Class of 2025) and ManMan. In music class, we created this song together combining different quotes about wisdom. The process helped us to understand the concept of knowledge, insight, empathy and wisdom. It might take us a lifetime to understand some of these concept, but we hope someday this catchy tune will come in handy to remind us how and where we can find wisdom.
Na’ auao Na Na ’auao
Knowledge comes from learning. Wisdom comes from living. (A.D. William)
Any fool can know. The point is to understand. (Albert Einstein)
Na’ auao Na Na ’auao
Tell me, I will remember,
teach me, I will know,
show me, and I will do
always try your best, Never say no,
Na’ auao Na Na ’auao
Embrace your mistakes, mistakes help us grow
Seek first to understand, then to be understood (Steven Covey)
knowledge is not given, but you can learn to get it
You can’t’ buy wisdom, but in time, you will get it
